Founded in 1998, PlanET Biogas is an innovative international company with offices in Germany, United States, Canada, France, Italy, and Brazil. We have extensive experience and knowledge of the global market for biogas technologies and specialize in the design, construction, and servicing of anaerobic digestion and biogas utilization systems including RNG plants.
PlanET Biogas Group New Headquarters
The year 2022 marked the opening of PlanET Biogas Group’s new headquarters in Gescher, Germany. This state-of-the-art facility showcases our commitment to sustainability by integrating a renewable energy concept that combines RNG-fueled CHP, geothermal technology, and solar power. With a focus on meeting our energy needs and reducing peak loads, we efficiently generate electricity and heat while minimizing our carbon footprint. Our geothermal system provides heating and cooling, and solar panels contribute clean energy. Additionally, we have installed 18 charging stations to support electric vehicles.

Our history
The two company founders Jörg Meyer zu Strohe and Hendrik Becker started out as biogas pioneers in 1998 in the tranquil town of Vreden. Their idea, unusual at the time, was to combine organic residues with climate protection, sustainability and economic efficiency. The passion for biogas is still the key to the success story today.

A message from our Leaders
Hi, we are Jörg and Hendrik, managing directors/partners of PlanET Biogas Group GmbH. We met while in university and quickly realized that we shared many views. After our studies, we decided to find a way to utilize organic waste. The combination of climate protection and economic savings was particularly important to us. So, we started with the first plant on our parents’ farm. After testing our first constructions in the garage in 1998, things moved quickly. Together, we started PlanET, which has consistently seen growth ever since.
We currently have branches in France, Canada, the USA and Brazil. We also employ over 350 people around the world, and together, have built over 650 digester plants. The awards we received for our work in 2006 and 2012 are great achievements and continue to provide motivation.
Hendrik’s brother Roland has also been part of our team since its inception. He acted as an authorized signatory and was responsible for all commercial departments. In 2020, he became a member of the board. As a trio, we look forward to the future with great joy.
